Senior Living Operations
Vivid Senior Living is a joint venture established with California-based Integral Senior Living, one of the top senior living operators in the United States. Vivid is focused on delivering innovative, best-in-class management services to senior independent living, assisted living, and memory care communities in the China market.
In 2012, The Capbridge Group acquired SME Servicer, now known as Reborn Servicer, after its original corporate parent Incubator Bank of Japan was forced to file for bankruptcy. The business was subsequently stabilized and is now a leading provider of automobile receivables financing.

As the Founder of Capbridge, Mr. Orrell developed and continues to oversee the firm’s strategic plan, investment strategies, and growth initiatives. He also chairs its investment committee.
Prior to forming Capbridge, Mr. Orrell served as Chairman and CEO of New City Corporation (NCC), where he led the firm’s 2002 leveraged buyout, recapitalization, and restructuring. From 1999 through 2003, Mr. Orrell led CBRE Investors Japan KK as President, building the firm from its inception.
In 2005, Mr. Orrell led a group of senior executives from NCC and CBRE Investors in buying out CBRE in order to merge both companies into a single operating platform. Mr. Orrell led the growth of this firm into an extensive Pacific Rim real estate investment, development, operating, and fund management platform. During this time Mr. Orrell oversaw the creation of the US $800 million New City Asia Partners real estate opportunity fund. He pioneered the strategic plan for NCC and CBRE Investors to become joint sponsors of New City Residence, a residential Japanese real estate investment trust (J-REIT) and directed that project from inception through listing.
Mr. Orrell earned his BA in economics from San Francisco State University.
Prior to his instrumental role in forming Capbridge, Mr. Schochet served as an Executive Vice President of New City Corporation. There he managed the financial analysis of the company’s prospective global real estate and corporate investments; oversight of its international operations; and cross-border structuring and execution of capital markets initiatives throughout Asia.
From 2002 through 2004, Mr. Schochet was General Manager & Head Analyst at CBRE Investors Japan KK, handling investment management, portfolio analysis, and the disposition of property investments managed on behalf of large institutional clients including Sumitomo Life, DEKA, and GIC. He also served at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Tokyo, providing financial advice to government and multinational corporate clients.
Mr. Schochet holds a BA in international relations from Carleton College and an MBA from Thunderbird, the Garvin School of International Management. He is fluent in Japanese.
Mr. Zhang brings extensive investment experience to Capbridge. He began his career with Springridge Investment Management Ltd. in Hong Kong, Beijing, and Shanghai, where he advised major international investment banks. His duties at Springridge included both investment and the recovery of non-performing loan portfolios in China. He became a Senior Vice President of New City Investment Management (China) Ltd. in 2006, heading the firm’s acquisition team. There Mr. Zhang managed deal origination, underwriting, contract negotiation, and asset management, closing more than $200 million in Shanghai investments.
Immediately before joining Capbridge, Mr. Zhang held the role of Senior Director for Acquisitions for Tishman Speyer in China. He took responsibility for developing business strategies and acquiring parcels for mixed-use development. He cultivated wide-ranging relationships with Chinese government officials, real estate developers, and institutional investors. Mr. Zhang also worked as head of business development for Ascendas China, where he oversaw deal sourcing and strategic development.
Frank graduated from Nanjing University with a bachelor of science in mathematics. He earned his MBA from the National University of Singapore.
Mr. Beaton has over 35 years of key leadership experience in the development and design of large-scale, high quality real estate projects. During his career he has been responsible for the planning and delivery of some of Hawaii’s more notable residential, resort, and commercial mixed-use developments.
Prior to joining Capbridge, Mr. Beaton founded Hawaiiana Development Group (HDG) in 1999 and served as its President. There he focused primarily on resort-based luxury real estate, emphasizing high-quality development in partnership with both Hawaii and mainland U.S. land owners. Prior to forming HDG, Mr. Beaton served for 11 years as Senior Vice President of Development for The Myers Corporation (TMC), one of Hawaii’s premier commercial development companies. He practiced architecture as a principal and founding member of specialty architectural firm TRB/Hawaii Ltd., as well as with The CJS Group Architects.
Mr. Beaton earned his bachelor of architecture degree from the University of Oregon with a minor in business administration. He is President of the Aloha Chapter of Lambda Alpha International, an honorary land economics society, and is a licensed architect in Hawaii.
